About Us - Our Story

How It All Began

Wren Farm has always been about family. It began with Angela’s parents, Janet and Noel, who worked hard to build a life here. They ran a traditional mixed farm, growing crops, keeping cattle, and rearing turkeys for Christmas. There was even a village hall on the land that brought people together. They cared deeply for the place and for the people around them. Wren was Noel's pet name for Janet, so the farm was named in their memory. Everything we do today is built on what they started.

Continuing the Family Story

When Janet and Noel passed, we wanted to keep their spirit alive. Angela and Jason, together with their sons decided to build on what they had left behind and open up the farm so others could enjoy the countryside they loved so much. It’s always been a family effort - every project, every plan, every bit of progress has come from shared hands and shared dreams.

Building the Next Chapter

With Jason’s background in building, we were able to start shaping the farm into what it’s become today. He built a new family home, a barn, and a tractor shed, all designed to fit naturally within the surroundings. Everything was done with care and a wish to keep things in the same honest, rural style the farm has always had. These buildings became the foundation for everything that followed.

Life on the Farm

As time went on, we wanted to bring more of the countryside experience to life. We introduced alpacas, sheep, goats, and chickens, each adding its own charm to the farm. The animals have become part of our daily routine and a real highlight for visitors. The alpaca trekking in particular has become something we love sharing with others, it’s peaceful, light-hearted, and gives people a chance to connect with the alpacas.

Wren Farm Desserts

In 2021, Andrew and Angela decided to transform the barn into something special, a dessert bar cafe. With the help of Andrew’s partner Niamh, who's love of all things sweet inspired the business, Wren Farm Desserts was born. Together, we came up with recipes for waffles, pancakes, cookie dough, and ice creams made with Appleby’s, a local favourite. It started small but quickly grew into one of the most loved spots in the area.

The Lodges

We began creating a small collection of lodges that blend naturally into the countryside. Each one was designed to feel calm and welcoming, giving guests the chance to slow down and enjoy farm life up close. They’ve been a huge hit, people love waking up to alpacas grazing just outside their door, feeding them in the morning, and feeling truly part of the landscape. And now, new for 2026, we’re adding our first lodges with hot tubs, offering an even more relaxing way to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Looking Ahead

As we look to the future, our goal is to keep building on what we’ve started and offer even more ways for people to escape to the countryside. We want guests to be able to switch off, spend time outdoors, and enjoy the simple things - quality time with loved ones, fresh air, and the calm that comes with being close to nature. With new lodges and experiences planned, we’re excited to keep sharing this special place with more people for years to come.
